700,000 vandalism cost to Dundee last year.

23 March 2010

Commenting on the news that vandalism repairs in Dundee cost an estimated 700,000 last year, Marlyn Glen said,

"Vandalism is not a low-level crime.

"It creates high-level damage which costs hard-pressed council tax payers substantial sums of money to repair.

"While the reduction in the number of acts of vandalism in many areas of the city in the past year is to be welcomed, there remained over 1900 acts undetected.

"Tackling vandalism successfully requires the long-term continuation of all community organisations and individuals working with the police to safeguard individual property and community facilities."
